Artists/Band Description

Bunch of Grass is a five-member Bluegrass Band with a sound based on the modern traditions in Bluegrass Music. The repertoire is a mixture of re-worked Bluegrass standards and the band's own compositions. Their sound is everything from soulful to hard driving and their joy in playing and singing is a primary element of Bunch of Grass’s stage performance.

These guys just love good old homemade music. – Especially Bluegrass Music!

Markus Rapke (Guitar & Vocal):

Markus is the frontman and the band's composer, but is also known for being a staff member of the European Bluegrass Music Association. He’s a powerful singer and a hot flatpicker all rolled into one.

Susanne Sievers (Fiddle & Vocal)

Coming from a classical background, Susanne finally found her way to the music that most touches her heart. She definitely has that Bluegrass touch and sound that is so important for mastering Bluegrass fiddle. Besides that, she’s a great singer with a really sweet voice.

Jesper Rübner-Petersen (Mandolin)

Jesper grew up in a Bluegrass family. Across Europe he is known as a workshop teacher and his book “The mandolin Picker’s Guide to Bluegrass Improvisation” has sold more then 6,000 copies. And yes! Jesper does know how to pick that mandolin!

Steffen Thede (Banjo & Vocal)

Steffen is the youngest member of the band, but his banjo playing and know-how is more than comparable to many long-time players. He's already established his own style and is unstoppable. Watch out for him in the future!

Bernd Müller (Bass & Vocal)

Bernd is the solid rock of the band. He’s an “old hand” at German Bluegrass and well known for his tasty tone and minimalist but steady playing. His can sing, too, and is always a great addition to a soulful song.
