Edward Fernbach grew up in Northern California playing jazz and studied guitar and German at Sonoma State University. After moving to Europe, his love of bluegrass flourished alongside his career as a music educator, teaching mandolin, guitar, banjo, and music theory. During his Master’s in Film Music Composition at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, he drew inspiration from acoustic and American folk traditions, exploring ways to fuse them with orchestral writing for the moving picture.As a musician, he performs with diverse bluegrass and songwriting projects that tour across Europe, based in the “Länderdreieck” where France, Germany, and Switzerland meet. As an educator, he organizes workshops across Germany and serves as the artistic director of “Pick, Play and Jam: American Bluegrass, Oldtime music and more” at Burg Fürsteneck
